Who may submit a listing

You may submit only if you own the property, have current written authority from the owner, or are a tenant whose rental agreement and every required approval permit the proposed sublease. Hawaiʻi law generally addresses subleasing in HRS §521-37, but a written rental agreement may prohibit it and government-owned, administered, or subsidized housing is treated separately. Your agreement, program rules, and current law control your situation.

Your responsibilities

Before submitting and while the listing is active, you agree that you are responsible for:

• obtaining and keeping every owner, landlord, agency, program, or association approval required for the rental;
• confirming permits, lawful occupancy, minimum rental periods, taxes, insurance, safety requirements, and required disclosures;
• following applicable Fair Housing and anti-discrimination laws in advertising and every later rental decision;
• using only photos and text you created or have permission to publish;
• keeping the rent, availability, features, contact information, and other listing facts accurate and current; and
• handling inquiries, screening, applications, leases, deposits, payments, maintenance, disputes, and renter conduct outside Placyn.

Hawaiʻi places limits on security deposits and distinguishes assistance animals from pets. Review HRS §521-44 and the Placyn Fair Housing information before setting deposit or pet terms.

Placyn’s role and limits

Placyn may review, display, pause, reject, expire, correct, or remove owner-submitted listing content. Placyn is not the property owner, landlord, property manager, leasing agent, tenant representative, screening provider, payment processor, insurer, or party to a rental agreement. Placyn does not accept applications or money and does not guarantee the advertiser, renter, property, permit, availability, condition, or transaction.

If your lease, sublease terms, approvals, or other obligations do not allow the rental, you—not Placyn—are responsible for that violation and resulting claims or losses. A Placyn review or publication does not approve or legalize the rental.

Required acknowledgments

The final submission step requires separate checkboxes for authority, lease or sublease permission, property compliance, photo rights, accuracy, Fair Housing, and Placyn’s limited role. Placyn records the selected authority basis, acknowledgment version, and submission time with the private listing record. A checkbox creates a record of your acknowledgment; it does not override applicable law or guarantee that every provision will be enforceable.

Privacy and publication

Drafts and full property addresses stay private during review. If approved, Placyn publishes only the listing and contact information you chose to publish. See Privacy and data use for the information kept with an owner listing.
